Coyote- July 1-6 (ages 13-15) $474
• Coyote travels along the edges of our cities, towns, and villages. He wanders in and out of our awareness, being seen when and how he chooses. Coyote is the trickster, inviting us to see and engage with the world in different, deeper ways. Join us for this fun and exciting camp as we learn the art of invisibility, natural camouflage, and the language of the forest, in addition to wildlife and human tracking, wild edibles, and stealthy movement. Participants who join us for this camp will never see the natural world, and their place within it, the same!
Turtle- July 8-12 (ages 8-12) $395
• Turtle teaches us the values of slowing down, looking closely, and being close to Mother Earth. In this 5-day camp, designed to introduce its young participants to the wonders of the natural world, we will focus on the art and science of nature awareness and observation. Together, we will build a deep level of connection and appreciation for Mother Nature and all that she provides.
New Moon- August 19-28 (Girls aged 13-17) $790
• Following the wisdom and knowledge of our grandmothers, this program passes on teachings to assist young women as they prepare for the journey to the next phase in their life. Elders and Staff will explore the challenges faced and offer guidance to the questions participants face on their journey into womanhood. Based on ceremonies and traditional rites of passage, this cultural outdoor education program specifically addresses young women who are seeking to discover their gifts and potentials, and accept the responsibilities of their coming of age. Set in the breathtaking mountains of the Devils Gap area, the Wolf summer program can be a life changing experience! Participants will share a tipi, have the opportunity to participate in a solo, and discover what it means to be a family and community all while learning and sharing with each other.
Jumping Mouse- August 5-9 (ages 8-12) $395
• Jumping Mouse is a wonderful opportunity for the young ones to experience the outdoors in a cultural and safe environment. Days are filled with exciting and engaging games, ecological learning, and friendship, all within an Aboriginal-based cultural setting. Surrounded by vast mountains, open skies, and colourful plants participants will develop new bonds between themselves, others, and Mother Nature as they are embraced within the circle of Rediscovery. The perfect experience for those just learning about the great outdoors!
Eagle- July 22-30 (ages 15-18) $720
• Eagle invites us to view the world from a larger perspective. With a focus on vision, values, self-understanding, and that larger perspective, Eagle camp takes its participants on a nine day journey that explores their inner landscape, and how their thoughts, dreams, relationships, and visions shapes their lives. Together, we will play games and explore the beautiful areas around camp as we create strong, meaningful relationships with ourselves, each other, and the natural world.
Black Bear- July 15-19 (ages 8-12) $395
• The Black Bear is a master of survival and adaptability, and teaches us strength, practicality, and the value of solitude. During this camp, we will focus on games and activities that teach us the lessons of the Black Bear: how to find food, natural shelter, and exploring the natural world through our senses. Participants who attend this camp can expect to build a greater knowledge of survival skills, and a greater sense of the bounty that is provided by nature.
Buffalo- August 12-16 (ages 8-12) $395
• The Buffalo was, and is, an extremely important animal to the Aboriginal people of this land. Buffalo provided food, shelter, and clothing. In this camp, we will focus on traditional games, crafts, stories, survival arts, and songs; learning the lessons of the ancestors and how they walked the earth. Buffalo, living in herds, also teaches us the strength of community, and together we will learn to lean on one another and use each-others’ strengths as individuals to support the group as a whole.
Grizzly- August 22-31 (Boys aged 15-18) $850
• This all-male experience is a chance for young men to further develop their personal skills and leadership qualities. Participants will journey through the landscape of the Ghost River Wilderness with backpacks, outdoor skills and the teachings of Aboriginal culture. The journey is also within them as they carve a new path for themselves that will forever impact their lives. The “Rite of Passage” from boyhood to manhood is honoured as participants explore what it means to be a man and gain useful life lessons in the Grizzly Summer Program.
Mountain Spirit Journey- September 4-13 (ages 18+) $1095
• Mountain Spirit is an adult program that offers a chance to look deeply at your life and purpose and to re-experience your connection to the Earth and all of Life. Based on ancient rites of passage found in the original teachings of all cultures, this camp draws on traditional Aboriginal teachings with today’s realities and challenges. People come to Mountain Spirit who are ready to make deep shifts in their lives, to mark an important change or passage in their lives, or who are looking for renewed guidance and inspiration. Profound friendships are forged at this program and people come from an enormous range of backgrounds and experience.
Participants renew their relationship with the Earth, and learn about the medicines, plants and animals of the area. You will have an opportunity to participate in traditional ceremonies, such as the Sweat lodge. We also teach you the basic skills you need to spend time safely on the land, preparing you for a solo quest. You will then have the opportunity to spend three days by yourself on the land. After the solo, we spend time to process, celebrate and begin learning from an experience that will last a lifetime! Mountain Spirit has been a life-changing spiritual journey for many people.
